Description
Truly stunning. This dramatic pendant is detachable from the faceted amber
necklace for added versatility, and comes with its own shadowbox for wall-hanging
display! Septarian, the central stone, is the mineral matrix that forms in the
center of huge ammonite fossils. The silvery stripes within the stone are hematite
that has mineralized to replace the shell walls of the original organism.
The leaves feature 24 kt gold Keum Boo, fused to sterling silver and the branches
are diamond-cut sterling silver wire. The amber necklace is a graduated strand of
high-quality Siberian amber, ranging in color from the palest champagne-color to
a very deep cherry/brown. It's strung on tigertail for added durability.
One thing I love about this piece is its deceptiveness; nothing is quite what
it appears at first glance. Despite its size, it is extremely lightweight and
curves gracefully with the neck for comfort. The stones are not "really" stones
(amber and septarian are actually organics), the leaves aren't really leaves, etc.
To me, that gives a level of whimsy and fun to the piece.
