Description
This piece satisfies my personal sense of irony and balance of yin and yang.
It represents both
ends of the lifecycle - carbon as coal and as diamond. Roughness balanced against
polish, light in the darkness, movement and stability, Nature vs. human creations.
I find the coal washed up on the banks of the Delaware River after flooding, where
it's been shaped and formed by Mother Nature. Many of the diamonds I use are from
estate jewelry that is being melted down by a refiner. Both are "salvaged," but in
very different ways.
